Day 1: Journey from Istanbul to Izmir – Entering the Gateway to the Seven Churches — Transfer to the airport: A private vehicle will pick you up at your hotel in Istanbul to take you to the airport. • Flight to İzmir: Board a direct flight to İzmir, the third largest city in Turkey and a historic starting point for exploring the Seven Churches. • Arrival in İzmir: Welcome by our local representative and transfer in a luxury vehicle to the hotel. • Accommodation in İzmir: Check-in at the selected hotel. Day 2: Smyrna, Pergamon and Thyatira – In the Footsteps of the Ancient Faith — Breakfast at the Hotel: Start the day with an energizing breakfast at the hotel, getting ready to explore the roots of the Christian faith in depth. • Departure to Smyrna (Church of St. Polycarp): After breakfast, a short drive in a private vehicle will take you to the remains of ancient Smyrna. You will visit the Church of St. Polycarp, an emblem of Christian resistance and one of the places where Christianity was preached from its beginnings. Here, your guide will delve into the history of Polycarp, the martyred bishop, and his legacy in the early Church. • Lunch at a Local Restaurant: After exploring Smyrna, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, where you can savor Turkish specialties and relax before continuing the journey. • Journey to Pergamon: The tour will continue to Pergamon, an ancient metropolis that was an important cultural and political center. In Pergamon, you will explore its famous acropolis, which includes the Altar of Zeus and the Temple of Trajan, highlighting its importance in both pagan and Christian history. • Visit to Thyatira: Then, the tour continues to Thyatira, another of the Seven Churches of Revelation. Day 3: Sardis, Philadelphia, Hierapolis and Laodicea – Continuing the Sacred Route — Breakfast at the Hotel: Start the day with a full breakfast at the hotel, full of energy for a day of exploration and discovery. • Departure to Sardis: The first stop of the day is Sardis, once the capital of Lydia and home to one of the Seven Churches of Revelation. You will explore the imposing ruins of the Temple of Artemis and the synagogue complex, one of the largest and best preserved of the ancient world. You will learn about the importance of this city both in the Christian context and in its earlier pagan history. • Lunch at a Local Restaurant: After the visit to Sardis, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant offering typical dishes of the region, providing a moment of rest and enjoyment. • Journey to Philadelphia: After lunch, you will head to Philadelphia, currently known as Alasehir. You will visit the ruins of the ancient church that bear witness to the endurance of this community despite adversity, reflecting the biblical promise of being kept from the “hour of trial.” • Hierapolis and Laodicea: You will continue to Hierapolis, famous for its natural thermal baths and for being the place where Saint Philip was martyred. You will explore the ancient theater, the baths and the vast necropolis. Finally, you will visit Laodicea, known for its counsel and its rebuke in Revelation for being a “lukewarm” community. You will discover the excavations that reveal the grandeur of this ancient city. • Return to İzmir: After a day full of historical learning and spiritual reflection, you will return to İzmir. The evening will be free to explore more of this vibrant city, dine at one of its renowned restaurants or rest at the hotel. Day 4: Ephesus – Culmination of the Spiritual Pilgrimage Breakfast at the Hotel: Begin the last day of your trip with an energizing breakfast at the hotel. • Departure to Ephesus: After breakfast, you will head to Ephesus, one of the most significant cities of the ancient world and a key center for the early expansion of Christianity. Ephesus is home to an incredible number of well-preserved ruins that transport visitors back in time to the Roman era. • Tour of Ephesus: Explore the archaeological site of Ephesus extensively, including the Great Theater, where the apostle Paul preached against the pagan silversmiths; the Library of Celsus, an imposing building that once housed more than 12,000 scrolls; and the Temple of Hadrian, with its fascinating reliefs. Do not miss the Terrace Houses, luxurious Roman residences with impressive mosaics and frescoes. • Lunch in Selçuk: Enjoy a traditional lunch in Selçuk, the modern town near Ephesus, where you can taste local specialties in a welcoming atmosphere. • Visit to the House of the Virgin Mary: After lunch, visit the House of the Virgin Mary, a sacred place of pilgrimage believed to have been the last home of Mary, mother of Jesus.
